Dear Foothill-De Anza Community College District Community, 

 

At a special meeting of the Board of Trustees on Friday, April 17, 2026, David Wain Coon was unanimously appointed Acting President of De Anza College. He will serve in this role until a permanent president is appointed. 

 

Acting President Coon joins De Anza College from the College of Marin. A biography is attached for your review. 

 

A detailed timeline for the permanent presidential search has not yet been established. We expect the upcoming search to be similar in scope and duration to previous presidential searches conducted by the district. As with any search, the timeline may vary depending on factors such as the level of stakeholder participation and the size of the applicant pool. 

 

Once the timeline and process for the permanent search are finalized, we will share additional details with the community.
