Message from the Chancellor | An Update on De Anza College Leadership
April 13, 2026
Note: This message was sent to all Foothill-De Anza District employees.

Dear Foothill-De Anza Community College District Community,

I am writing to share an update regarding leadership at De Anza College. Dr. Omar Torres has submitted his resignation, effective June 30, 2026.

Omar brought energy, commitment, and genuine care to his role. During his tenure, De Anza strengthened its senior leadership team, advanced significant institutional priorities, and continued to serve students with distinction. I am grateful for his contributions to this district and wish him well as he remains on leave to focus on his family.

The district is in the process of appointing an Interim President to ensure continuity and alignment with our accreditation requirements. I expect the Board of Trustees to approve an interim President at a special meeting on April 17, 2026.  A search for a permanent president will follow, and I will share more details on that process in the coming months.

De Anza College is in good hands. The senior leadership team is committed to maintaining stability and continuing the important work underway across the campus. I will keep the district community informed as this transition progresses.

Sincerely,

Lee D. Lambert
