Citizens' Bond Committee Releases Annual Report

The Measure C Citizens' Bond Oversight Committee has released its annual report for 2011-12 to inform the community about how taxpayer-supported bond funds were spent over the past year by the Foothill-De Anza Community College District. Instead of printing the report, the committee has made it available on the web at http://measurec.fhda.edu/AR1112/ . It includes pictures and highlights of projects funded by Measure C, a $490.8 million general obligation measure that district voters approved in 2006.

In presenting the report, committee Chairman Dudley G. Andersen told the Foothill- De Anza Board of Trustees that after reviewing all bond-related documents and activities over the past year, the oversight committee has determined that the bond proceeds have been spent as promised. He said the district's annual Measure C financial and performance audits found that the district is in full compliance, and he called Measure C "a boon to this district."

Completed projects funded by Measure C range from classroom renovations and upgraded infrastructure for utilities and technology to roof repairs and installation of photovoltaic arrays for electricity generation. The new Physical Sciences and Engineering Center at Foothill and the Media and Learning Center at De Anza were constructed using Measure C funds.

The Citizens' Bond Oversight Committee meets six times a year to review the use of Measure C funds and monitor progress. The committee is made up of community representatives appointed by the district's Board of Trustees.

Members of the oversight committee are Andersen of Palo Alto, at-large representative; David Berman of Los Altos, business organization representative; William A. Dietz of Los Altos, senior citizens' organization representative; Anita Manwani Bhagat of Los Altos, auxiliary organization representative; Stephanie A. McGee of Foothill College, student representative; Robert K. Lancefield of Palo Alto, taxpayers' organization representative; and Susan Silver of Sunnyvale, at-large representative.
