Run-Hide-Defend - "Run, Hide, Defend" training is the curriculum designed and approved by the Santa Clara County Police Chiefs Association and the Santa Clara County Office of Education. The training is intended to provide students, faculty, and staff information on how to protect themselves and respond to an active assailant event. It is taught countywide in all K-12 schools, along with San José State University. The Santa Clara County Community College Police Departments have agreed to adopt the same training, so there is consistency for students from elementary, middle school, high school, all the way through to the college/university level.  The FBI has deemed this curriculum as "best practice" on how to respond to active assailant events.

Common Assessment Initiative (CAI)/Multiple Measures for Assessment (MMAP) – ‪The California Community College Chancellor's Office (CCCCO) has developed a new assessment tool called the Common Assessment, as part of the Common Assessment Initiative (CAI). The idea behind CAI is to allow California Community College (CCC) students to assess at one college and then have their assessment on file for any other CCC to view.  This session will share examples of CAI "competency maps" and how they relate to the success of our students in courses at Foothill and De Anza.  It will also review work to date on utilizing multiple measures of assessment to provide a more accurate picture of a student's ability to be successful.  Participants from both colleges are invited to share their work and goals for the new assessment system.

Presenters: Casie Wheat, Acting Assessment Center Supervisor; Stephen Fletcher, Assessment Center Supervisor; and Andrew LaManque, Associate Vice President of Instruction
