Board of Trustee's Policy 3214 :: Environmental Management

Our Board of Trustees recently revised Board Policy 3214 Environmental, Health, Safety, and Energy Management to clearly state our  commitment as a district to environmental sustainability:

Environmental sustainability is critically important to the Foothill De Anza Community College District (District), the State of California, and the nation.  Efficient use of resources is central to this objective.  The District is committed to stewardship of the environment and to reducing the District’s dependence on non-renewable energy sources.

  • Design and construct renovation projects to outperform the current Title 24 Standards.

  • Increase self generated energy capacity.

  • Set District wide guidelines for heating and cooling of facilities.

  • Increase the number of district vehicles that run on alternative fuels.

  • Minimize waster generation and increase the volume of  waste that is diverted from landfills.

  • Maximize the use of recyclable material in food service operations.

  • Develop methods to monitor consumption activity and routinely report it to the campus community and at lease annually to the Board of Trustees.
