Martha J. Kanter, chancellor of the Foothill-De Anza Community College District, testified before the State Senate Committee on Emerging Technologies and Economic Competitiveness at a hearing held at NASA Ames on July 15. The committee is chaired by Sen. Elaine Alquist.
Kanter's testimony focused on the district's nanotechnology program as well as the pipeline of students from high school through college. Testifying with Kanter were Denice Denton, chancellor of UC Santa Cruz, and Steve Crothers, director of San Jose State University's Biotech & Biomed Initiative, along with representatives of industry and the nonprofit sector.
