Renowned Stanford University Professor of Education Michael Kirst,
director of Policy Analysis for California Education (PACE), was
the keynote speaker at the March 29 community forum "K-12 and the Bridge to
Higher Education," held at Foothill College. The Foothill-De Anza Community
College District sponsored the event along with Joint Venture:
Silicon Valley, Inc., and the Silicon Valley Leadership Group (SVLG).
Panelists included Mary Frances Callan, superintendent, Palo Alto
Unified School District; Rich Fischer, superintendent, Mountain
View-Los Altos Union High School District; Bernadine Chuck Fong,
president, Foothill College; Brian Murphy, president, De Anza College;
and Steve Rowley, superintendent, Fremont Union High School District.
