Keynote speaker: Dr. Manuel Pastor

ManuelPastorMug: Dr. Manuel Pastor is a professor of sociology and American studies at the University of Southern California where he directs the Program for Environmental and Regional Equity. His research focuses on issues of economic, environmental and social conditions facing low-income urban communities and the social movements seeking to change those realities. He holds a doctorate degree in economics from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. His most recent book, co-authored with Chris Benner, is "Just Growth: Inclusion and Prosperity in America's Metropolitan Regions." In 2000, while teaching Latin American and Latino Studies at the University of California, Santa Cruz, he founded UCSC's Center for Justice, Tolerance & Community.
